JEE Main 2021 Notifications
Main Changes in JEE Main Exam 2021
- JEE Main will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) instead of CBSE.
- The exam will be conducted in online mode only.
- The Exam will be conducted twice in a year. The exam will be conducted in January and April months every year.
- Each session will have 8 sittings, with candidates having the option to book their session (only one session allowed though)
Note: With the exam slated to go completely online, provisions are being made to ensure candidates get familiar to the functionalities of the computer-based test through mock tests. NTA will set up mock test centers across the country in August where candidates can go and practice during the weekends.
Joint Entrance Exam – Main 2021 ( JEE Mains )
The process will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) and the applications can be submitted on the official website of JEE i.e., jeemain.nic.in. The JEE Main entrance examination 2021 will be organized for aspiring engineering students who look forward to getting admissions to various courses in the country. JEE Main Paper-1 evaluates the aptitude of candidates who want to pursue BE/BTech at NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.
Important Changes in JEE Main 2021 over Last Year
The eligibility criteria for admission to JEE Main participating institutes were changed. As per the new eligibility, in order to be considered for admissions, candidates must secure either 75% aggregate marks (General Category) and 65% percent (Reserved Category) in the qualifying examination or they have to be in the top 20 percentile in their respective class 12th/equivalent qualifying examination board.
Weightage given to class 12th marks in calculating All India Ranks of candidates in JEE Main was scrapped.
Aadhaar Card number was made mandatory for filling JEE Main application form last year. However, candidates from the states of Assam, Meghalaya, and J&K were excluded from this provision. In place of the Aadhaar Number, candidates from these states had to enter their passport number, bank account number, ration card number, or any other valid identity number (by the government) to get an exam center in these states only.
The number of candidates filtered for appearing in JEE Advanced from JEE Main was increased to 2,20,000 from 2,00,000.
The registration process for JEE MAINS 2021:
- The candidate will have to get registered using details like their email id, mobile number, and Aadhaar number. In the case of candidates belonging to regions where Aadhaar details are not available, they may use some other identification document for registration.
- In the next step, fill in personal, academic, and contact details. Also, verify the entered mobile number and email id.
- Candidates have to upload photographs and signatures (of both the candidates and their parents/guardian). The image specifications for the same are as follows:

Age Eligibility (Date of Birth)
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1993 will be eligible.
However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST, and PH candidates who are born on or after October 01, 1988, are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.
Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination
Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2015 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2021. Candidates who appeared in class 12th/equivalent qualifying Examinations in 2015, did not pass in 2015, but passed in 2016 are also not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2021.
Slot booking
After paying the fees, the candidate has to book a slot from the available options. Please note, slots will be on offered first-come, first served basis.
Qualifying Marks
General Category candidates need to have secured a minimum 75% marks or should be in the top 20 percentile in their class 12th board or equivalent examination. The qualifying marks requirement for candidates belonging to SC/ST category is 65%.
Number of Subjects in the Qualifying Examination
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/ qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main) – 2021.
Number of Attempts
The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) is limited to 03 (three).
Aadhaar Card Number
All candidates should possess Aadhaar Card and a registered Aadhaar Card Number.
