  1. Inauguration of World’s First Thermal Battery Plant in Andhra Pradesh
  • The Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu released the Worlds first Thermal Battery Plant.
  • It was manufactured by Bharat Energy Storage Technology Private limited to promote Renewable sources of energy production and reduce reliance on non-renewable fossil fuel based energy production
  1. The government decided to constitute GoM to decide on RCEP negotiations 
  • The Central Government has constituted a four-member Council of Ministers headed by  Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu.
  • GoM has been constituted to advise Prime Minister Modi that he or she has to go ahead with the 16-member Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership ( RCEP ) talks.  GoM includes Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri.
  1. Parliament passed the bill to give constitutional status to NCBC
  • It tries to establish NCBC under the Constitution to investigate complaints and welfare measures related to OBC,
  • NCBC will have one president, vice president and 3 other members, of which at least one woman will be,
  • The mandatory female member’s provisions will be made during the construction of the rules,
  • NCBC will work as an autonomous institution in which the powers of the civil court will be,
  • It will investigate and monitor how much security has been provided to the OBC under the Constitution and other laws are being implemented.
  1. National Handloom Day: August 7
  • National Handloom Day is celebrated on 7th August every year to honor handloom weavers in the country and efforts are also made to promote India’s handloom industry.
  • This year it was the fourth edition of the National Handloom Day after being established in 2015.
  1. Google released ‘Android 9 Pie
  • Google’s latest Android operating system update, Android 9 pie was officially released to customers after the beta testing period which began earlier this year.
  • Android pie introduced a new gesture-based system interface which is similar to the interface of iPhone X. Android Pie also includes an adaptive battery feature which maximizes battery power by giving priority to those apps you need most.
  1. Started in Kathmandu under Pacific Efforts-MCG 2009
  • Prashant Attempt-2012, under the Multinational Communication Interoperability Program (MCIP)  , a communication practice began in Nepal’s Kathmandu. The basic purpose of 12-day practice is to develop general communication operational procedures in the Asia-Pacific region to enable the forces to work collectively due to the disaster.
  • Nearly 270 personnel from 20 Asia-Pacific countries are participating in this exercise, which is being  jointly organized by Nepali Army and United States Pacific Command 
  1. Saudi Arabia prohibits putting all trade relations with Canada  
  • Saudi Arabia has announced that Saudi Arabia has banned all new business relations and investments with Canada due to the intervention of Saudi Arabia’s internal affairs.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expelled the Canadian ambassador and has called back his envoy in Canada.
