About Andhra Pradesh Education Board:
The AP State Commissionerate Of School Education will conduct the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Class Summative Assessment (SA) and Formative Assessment Examinations in the months of September and February to May each year. The Department of School Education is the largest of the 200 departments in the state, publishing the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Class SA & FA Examination Time Table at the State Official Website and District wise DEO Website. The Department of Education focuses on primary and secondary education and organises teacher training.
Formative Assessment – FA refers to a wide variety of methods that teachers use to conduct in-process evaluations of student comprehension, learning needs, and academic progress during a lesson, unit, or course.
Summative Assessment – SA Refers to the assessment of participants where the focus is on the outcome of a program. This contrasts with formative assessment, which summarizes the participants’ development at a particular time. Summative assessment is widely taught in Educational Programs in the Andhra Pradesh State.
About Functions of SCERT:
- Preparation of curricula, syllabi, instructional material for Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary and alternative systems of education.
- Development of evaluation procedures and material, which are helpful to the practicing teachers.
- Bridging gaps between the methods and techniques advocated in training and the actual classroom practices.

- To develop new courses in Teacher Education.
- To frame and revise curriculum of teacher Education courses periodically.
- To conduct teacher education courses to untrained teachers through distance mode.

Unit-I: Number System
Real Numbers – Euclid division lemma – Introduction, HCF, Some number generalizations, rational and irrational numbers, Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic – statements, LCM, HCF, Properties of real numbers in terms of rationality and irrationality, Proofs of results, the irrationality of numbers
decimal expansions of rational numbers in terms of terminating, non-terminating, recurring decimals, and vice versa.
Logarithm – Introduction of logarithms, Conversion of a number in exponential form to a logarithmic form, Properties of logarithms, Laws of logarithms, Standard base of logarithms, and usage
Unit-II: Sets
Sets and Their Representations – Empty set, Finite and Infinite sets, Equal sets. Subsets, Subsets of the set of real numbers (especially intervals with notations), Universal set and cardinality of sets, Venn diagrams – Sets, Subsets, Disjoint sets, Basic operations on sets – Union, Intersection, Difference of sets
Unit-III: Algebra
Polynomials – Zeroes of a polynomial (Linear, Quadratic cubic polynomials), Geometrical meaning of Zeroes of quadratic and cubic polynomials using graphs, Relationship between zeroes and coefficients of a polynomial with particular reference to quadratic polynomials, Statement and simple problems on division algorithm for polynomials with integral coefficients, Zeroes of a biquadratic polynomial.
Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables – Pair of linear equations in two variables. Geometric representation of different possibilities of solutions/ inconsistency, Algebraic conditions for several solutions (Consistent, inconsistent), Solution of pair of linear equations in two variables algebraically – by substitution, by elimination methods – Simple situational problems. Simple problems on equations reducible to linear equations in two variables.
Quadratic Equations – Standard form of a quadratic equation ax2+bx+c=0, (a ≠ 0), Solutions of quadratic equations (only real roots) by factorization, and by completing the square, i.e., by using a formula to find roots of quadratic equation, Relationship between discriminant and nature of roots. Problems related to day-to-day life situations.
Progressions – Sequence and series, Progressions – introduction, Motivation for studying AP, Derivation of standard results of finding the nth term and sum of first n terms of A.P, Motivation for studying G.P, nth term of G.P.
Unit-IV: Trigonometry
Trigonometry – Introduction, Trigonometric ratios of an acute angle by using right-angled triangle i.e. sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, and cotangent., Values (with proofs) of the trigonometric ratios of 30, 45, and 60 degrees. Motivate the ratios, whichever are defined at 0 and 90 degrees, Relationship between the ratios. Trigonometric Identities: Proof and applications of the identities sin2A+cos2A=1, 1+tan2A=sec2A, cot2+1=cosec2A, Simple problems on identities, Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles.
Applications of Trigonometry – Angle of elevation, Angle of depression, Simple and daily life problems on heights and distances. Problems should not involve more than two right triangles and angle elevation/depression should be only 30, 45, 60 degrees.
Unit-V: Co-ordinate Geometry
Coordinate Geometry Lines (In two-dimensions) – Review the concepts of coordinate geometry done by the graphs of linear equations, Distance between two points i.e. P (x1, y1) and Q (x2, y2), Section formula (an internal division of a line segment in the ratio m:n), Area of a triangle on the coordinate plane, Slope of a line joining two points
